Ben Raemers’ sister blames skateboarding for her brother’s suicide

BBC did a bit of a hit piece on Ben’s death.

Lucy says there is a problem specific to the sport.

"Skateboarding involves a rock and roll lifestyle. You’re skating and you’re boozing. It’s all fun.

“But with skateboarding you have a lot of spare time on your hands so it’s easy to fall into a hole of addiction.”

I dont think mental health issues are specific to skate. Free time is just an excuse. Even if you work full time, that is only 8 hours in a 24 hour day, that is a lot of spare time. People make choices. Plenty of pro skaters dont drink, and dont party.
